WHAT WE TURNED ON 23RD (WORK-IN-PROGRESS NOVEL)

Ryan is currently querying his novel WHAT WE TURNED ON 23RD to literary agents. Set in the Jazz Age American South, it tells the story of a fledgling screenwriter at a newly opened film studio-which happens to be the city's only racially integrated business-as she works to uncover who is sabotaging the studio's first production. Fans of Anthony Marra's Mercury Pictures Presents and Taylor Jenkins Reid's The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo will love this peek behind the scenes into the early years of the film industry.

After Hurricane Florence devastated Southeastern North Carolina in 2018, Ryan wanted to use his skills to help raise money for relief efforts. After seeing many of his friends sell artwork and donate the income, Ryan came up with an idea: sell stories. Those interested simply had to send him any amount of money to be donated, and he would write them a custom story, illustrated by one of his closest friends, Jordan Schmid. Six stories and a whole children’s book later, Ryan and Jordan had donated over $300 to the Cape Fear Volunteer Center.
